Position
On the top of hillside of mountain Ligos, there are the facilities of the ski center of Vasilitsa.
It is particularly famous for the funny events in the small chalet but also at its pistes, and consists of meeting point for the snowboarders 
Another reason that have made it famous is the beautiful landscape, but also the romantic route through which someone arrives at 2246 meters, between high robolas and black pine trees.

The nature of Pindos remains  undimmed throughout the years, the same dark green color of the trees. The only difference is that on these forests animals that no longer exist now used to live, an example is the mammoth

Access to the ski center
45 km. are separating the National Ski center of Vasilitsa from the city of Grevena.
You will follow the route from Grevena to Valia Kalnta and on the half way you will turn to the village of Smixi. Above the village you will meet the ski center of Vasilitsa.
Distrato is the "door" of the ski center from Epirus.
In close distance you will meet Ioannina.

History
The magnificence of Pindos urge a company of romantic people  to open a ski center at the beginning of 1975. And made it after pressure the central authority to sponsor the first in-tow chairlift at Vasilitsa-Gomara 1060 m. length and in altitude of 1788 - 2060 m. (altitude difference 272 m.).

This chairlift transfers 800 skiers per hour and  is functionned until today.
Next years the idea of touristic development of Grevena with main pole the ski center of Vasilitsa gains more and more fanatics that promotes it. Vasilitsa continues to attract many visitors from all over Greece.


At 1991 Ski association allocates to Sports General Secretary  the structure that has created , i.e  τον συρόμενο αναβατήρα and chalet in order to form a Public Entity of Law, with operator of administration a seven member commitee, two years term of office and the name of National Snow center of Vasilitsa.

Visit
See the traditional stone-houses, fountains, the churches of Agios Athanasios and Agios Nikolaos.

If you are fan of nature and distance is not an issue for you, you can ascend the area of Valia Kalnta if weather allows it. Admire the amazing scenery, with Arkoudorema, lakes Flega, rare black and red pine trees and robola.

You can see also, the churches of Agios Georgios at Perivoli and Agios Athanasios outdside Avdela and the stone bridges of Asiz Aga, Portitsa ( close to Spilaio), Pasa, Trikomo, Spanou etc.

Do not forget to make a stroll at Grevena, where when the snow falls, is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the central Greece.
