It is the most cosmopolitan and popular beach as well as the main tourist resort of the island with one of the largest Greek beaches with a length of 9 kilometres. It is one of the most populous and busy areas in Zakynthos.

From designated points on the beach you can board small boats for a trip to Laganas Bay where you might get to see a sea turtle.
