The area is reported as colony of Samothrace. The city reached in big acne the 5th and 4th e.g. century. At Macedonian and later Roman sovereignty, with the creation of land streets, the city begins to decadence. The Mesivria - Area is one of the colonies of Samothrace that was founded in southly-eastern beach of Thrace, between Maroneia and Alexandroupoli, during 7th century e.g. The double name is owed in that when began the excavations, the place was more widely known as Mesivria, but the last excavation data, lead to the conclusion that is rather the Zoni.
The excavation begin in 1966 and is continued up to today. Has been revealed the wall, strengthened with towers at intervals. In his limits walls exist totals of residences, samples for the urban web, two public buildings, holy Dimitra and the temple of Apollon. Very interesting is a small department of city in south-eastern, that in the hellenistic years was isolated, sourounded with its own wall and autonomous internal organisation. In westwards the city and outside from wall is found the cemetery.

The more important monuments and architectural totals of archaeological space are:
- Sauctum of Dimitra
Small manufacture made of white well processed marble and dimensions 1.50 X 7.5m. Inside the sanctuary were found silver and gold tiles with embossed representations relative with the adoration of Dimitra. 4th century e.g. - Holy Apollon
Rectangle building with dimensions 9 X 15m. It belongs to a building group of dimensions 35 X 45 m with central slaty courtyard that is encompassed by gallery. In the interior were found a lot of splinters of ceramics 6th and 5th century e.g with engraved signs. - Building group
In three from the spaces were found a lot of amphora. In intermediate, amphoras with the orifice in the ground it was considered that they served the draining of ground. 6th-5th century e.g. - The unique gate

- Department of westerner walls and remains of two towers.
