The Archaeological museum of Mycenae is located inside the archaeological site of Mycenae.
It is shaped to service of the material that comes from the excavations of the Acropolis of Mycenae, the area in order to service the guardance of the material taht comes from the excavations of the acropolis of Mycenae, direct area in
order to serve as an exhibition area, for the information of the visitors completing their tour.

Exhibition sections
The Life of Mycenian (first room)
In the first section it is presented firstly the use of place briefly until the end of Mycenian era, throughout the evolution of ceramic. Follows the most important architectonic monuments of Acropolis, the Gate of Leonton, Sitapotheki,
the walls, the religious center, and also ten domestic mycenian complexes outside Acropolis.
Afterlife (second room)
The material of the second unit comes from the grave circle B, of which graves are presenting in a semi-circle showcase and also various grave of the area in topographic units. Copies of the most important marbles represents the grave
circle A. The exhibits of the unit are presenting in chronological row.
Use of the area during historical (third room)
The half of the third room is dedicated to the third unit, with material that comes from the grave of mycenaean, geometrical, ancient and hellenistic time, holy from the ancient and classical time like Agamemnonion and sanctuary of
Enialion and from the building complexes of hellenistic era. In a special area is presented the collection of Mycenaean coins.
Mycenian civilization (third room)
The remaining area is dedicated to the uniqueness of the Mycenian civilization, with units that concern the basic activities of the Mycenaean and the accomplishments of the system of govern, the religion, the trade, the administration,
the art and the technology.
The museum is housed in a contemporary building that comes from the foot of Mycenae and to direct connection with acropolis. It was built in a way that provides direct communication with the ancient remainings, parts of those are visible from its big windows and the visitor meets in his way from the entrance of the archaeological site.
It is built in three levels and covers a total surface of 2000 m2. A great field of the museum is dedicated in the guardance of the archaeological material that comes from the excavations that took place in the past and continues until today.
The exhibition covers the 1/4 of the museum. It was built in the east side of the building in two levels and consists of three rooms.
The central entrance is located on the southwest side of the building. The visitor, before arriving in the yard that is the entrance of the exhibition, meets the " arched grave of the Lions".
The entrance leads to a spacious lobby (165 m2), in its center there is a pattern of the Acropolis, though many tables with record and material present the place from travelers of past centuries, and the history of excavations connected to Mycenae.
The visit begins with the room that communicates with the lobby in its right side.
The other two rooms are in a lower level and communicates to the first with double inclined corridor.
After these rooms the visitor returns to the lobby from the inclined corridor.
The exhibition is developing in four sections, mostly in big perimetrical showcases.
The first two rooms of the exhibitions area are dedicated the first one to the life in Mycenae and the second one in lower lever to their grave customs.
In the first room, that is the biggest one (150 m2), are presenting the exhibits of the first use of the place until the end of the prehistorical times based on the building complexes.
In the second room (115 m2) is presenting the material that comes from the graves, beginning from the grave circles A and B and continue with the exhibits from graves of the area of Mycenae.
The other two sections consist of the units of the third room of (115 m2) the exhibition. The first one is for the use of the ground at Mycenae during the historical times though the second and last one is dedicated to the activities of Mycenaean, at which is addresed the uniqueness of Mycenaean civilization.
In the spacious storages of the museum is housed also the material that came from the museum of Nauplio and the National Archaeological Museum.
Specialized workshops of ceramic and metal objects that allow the keeping of the material there although there are spaces for desks and bibliotheque for the amenity of the researchers that work with it.
