Hotels and rooms to let in Andros island

On Holy Tuesday, we will enjoy Kassiani’s hymn at the church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary in Chora.
On Holy Thursday, after the 12 Gospels, follows the decoration of the Epitaph.
On Good Friday, we will make an excursion to the mountainous villages to worship their epitaphs. In the same afternoon, in Chora, the epitaphs of the three parishes are joined together in Kairis Square, an extraordinary sight! For ouzo and appetizers, we will find many taverns and ouzo bars in the whole island.

At noon on Holy Saturday (11.00 - 13.00) takes place the Feast of Lemon, in Chora, because the island is famous for its many lemon trees. Saturday night, the Resurrection in the parishes is impressive with countless fireworks and firecrackers. The young people place iron pipes in the soil and fill them with gunpowder and then they set them off. The evening continues with the traditional soup “Magiritsa”, red eggs and fun till the morning.

Sunday morning is the second Resurrection and the appointment takes place in the square of Unknown Sailor to crack red eggs and eat Lazaraki, watching the explosions of the old Venetian castle cannons. At noon in the taverns, we will enjoy Andros flavors and of course the traditional "lampriati" (goat or lamb stuffed, baked in oven).
In the afternoon we take the car to go to Stenies village. Here, the captains of the village have been provided with many sparklers and firecrackers. The two parishes of the village are processing the icons of the Resurrection in the picturesque neighborhoods, which smell of the blooming lemon trees, to reach the village square. The moment they meet, it is given the slogan and the “Maskoula" burst in whole village with a deafening noise. Unique experience!

In Paleopoli, in Korthi and in other villages, in the afternoon of Easter Sunday, people play in the street the "Tsounia", a traditional game similar to bowling.
In the evening, the biggest fun in the island takes place in Batsi, with the picturesque, bustling harbor, with cafes, taverns and bars. Before leaving the island of Andros, we will buy traditional sweets (macaroons, kaltsounia, sweets, nougat, pastitsakia), local sausages and cheese (Petroti, Malachto).
