Agia Effimia is one of the most beautiful seaside villages in Kefalonia. It is 9 km far from Sami, 34 km from the capital of the island Argostoli  and 33 km from Lixouri.

Pylaros has a great importance on the island as from the ancient times was the gate to the north side of Kefalonia. Its name came from the word "pyloros" that means "guard of the gate".
Agia Effimia is on the east side of the island and on the opposite site- west side- you will meet the world-famous beach of Myrtos.  

It is an extremely beautiful village of Kefalonia that has been developed to a famous destination.
The road to Agia Effimia is heavenly. Leafy sceneries and traditional ports reveal the gifts of nature to the countryside of Kefalonia.
The small port of Agia Effimia, with 3-10 meters depth, can service until 70 boats and every summer is filled with sailing boats. The area is considered as a cosmopolitan resort. The touristic sites are getting better and better every year and fulfill all needs.

From Sami to Agia Effimia, you will meet from the one side small rocky hills and from the other the beautiful bluegreen color of the sea with the numerous small hills where you can leave your car or motorbike and enjoy your bath. Stones, white rocks until the edge of the sea create "small private beaches", magical and beautiful, with clean water and with the blue color dominating into all its shades.

Access
The best way to explore the island is by car so as to reach various places that the public transportation and the organized tours cannot reach.

By bus:
From Athens to the ports of Patra (9 hours) and Kylini (7 hours). From there there is coastal link with Kefalonia.
The local buses connect Argostoli with the villages and the rest areas of the island.

By ferry:
From Patra to Sami and from Kylini to Argostoli and Poros.
Also there is coastal link with Ithaca, Zakynthos and Lefkada, Aetoloakarnania and Paxos.

Argostoli - Lixouri
There is a local Ferry Boat connection every half hour in the summer and every hour in the winter. Duration: 20 minutes.

There is a daily air connection to Athens and regular flights from Thessaloniki. Flight duration Athens - Kefalonia is approximately 45 min without stops.
