The village took its name from a strange phenomenon of nature.
The salty water that flows into the river, springs from the slopes of the mountain and ends into the sea. On the beach you can swim under the shade of trees, to taste fresh fish in picturesque taverns and experience the warm hospitality of its inhabitants.

Almyropotamos
ALMYROPOTAMOS is the northernmost village of the Municipality of Styra on the boundaries with the municipality of Distia.
A village with beautiful traditional houses amphitheatrically built above the valley of Dipotamos.
It has one of the most beautiful coastlines, where the picturesque and tourist growing Panagia village is, with the natural sources of Almyropotamos that pour into the sea.
Here also operates a ferry port that connects Almyropotamos to Agia Marina.
Beaches
One should not forget to visit the beach of Agios Dimitrios or, otherwise, Chrysi Ammos, where eucalyptus trees next to the sea offer a unique shade to enjoy.
Also, you must not forget to see the perennial olive trees, which are close to the church of Panagia, and if you have a little patience, you may see eels swimming in the salty water flowing from the mountainside that pop in and out the sea.
