Vrastama of Halkidiki, the festive place
Vrastama belongs to Halkidiki Prefecture and is located 11km from Polygyros. It is characterized as a semi-mountainous region and is situated at the foothills of Cholomontas.
The main occupation of the local people, amounting to 850 according to the 2001 census, is the production of olives, grain and firewood. So, these products are the trademarks of the region, along with the traditional drink "cranberry".
Vrastama area has many places worthy of attention and admiration. Some of them are the church of the village, "Annunciation" and the cave of St. Euthymius, located in a fantastic place with waterfalls and trees. In this cave, the hermit Saint Euthymius is celebrated on October 14.
Worthy of note is the number of the local festivals, which are almost 13. The most important of these is those of Sts Anargiri, which takes place on July 1, Agia Kyriaki on 7/7 and the 15th of August.
Crowds are gathered in the 4-days traditional "Feast of raki”.
