Vlychada beach in Santorini
The beach of Vlychada in Santorini is one of the longest beaches on the island. It is located in the south between a unique and spectacular location created by the geological formations of the rocks at the back of the beach.
The effects of winds, the saltiness and the waves have created, with the passage of time, strange and unique images on the rocks that, also, because of the terrain, give the land the appearance of moonscape.
The beach with its fine black sand and dark pebbles, in its first part is organized with umbrellas, sun beds and a small bar that can offer you the necessities during your swim or your visit.
Those who prefer isolation will need to move to the middle part (the beach is very large) to find the necessary privacy.
In front of the settlement a marina operates where the boats and small yachts anchor. Above the harbor you will find taverns for food with nice views, where you can try fish and appetizers from noon till the late evening.
In the area carved tombs have been found in the limestone dating back to Hellenistic period.

) is easy and quick through the existing road network. While reaching Vlychada you will be impressed by the view of the tall chimneys of Nomikos factory. These small industries along with others were (knitting, wineries etc) were developed in the island in the last decades of 19th century and the early 20th century (Routes).
