Vassiliki in Lefkada island .. organized with crystal clear waters
A coastal scenic area about 38 km from the town of Lefkada. It is a popular tourist resort and is the port of the island at its southern tip. From here one can take a ferry to visit Ithaca and Kefalonia or a smaller boat in order to visit some of the area’s beautiful beaches as well as Lefkata Cape.
It is said that it was named by a beautiful princess who, while coming by boat to meet her lover, lost her life when the boat sank because of the rough sea giving an inglorious end to this love affair. Since then, the name of the unfortunate girl, Vassiliki, was given to the region in her honor.
It is the largest village in southern Lefkada which was originally inhabited by residents of the surrounding mountain villages.
On the western edge of Vassiliki there is the settlement of Ponti with wonderful views and many accommodation units.
Its crystal clear waters and the organized beach make it one of Lefkada’s most popular areas.
