Stroll at the traditional streets of Monemvasia
The cars have no place in castle city of Monemvasia, so forget them in the parking lot outside the main gate. (We make sure that we not take with us many things, because you tire of the Carry). The main road that starts immediately after login , called Yiannis Ritsos , in honor of the great poet was born and raised here. The interiors are spartan , with a stone fireplace in the bedrooms, lower beds and wooden floors. The windows are oblong , to protect from the wind , while imposing coats of arms adorn the front doors of the old mansions .
On the main road we find cafeterias , taverns , bars and souvenir shops with traditional local products .
Our steps will bring us to the main square , where stands the magnificent Church of Christ. It is the most important church of the Lower City .
Certainly worth ascend as the Upper City to visit the Hagia Sophia, a miniature of the namesake church in Constantinople (13th c.) , which overlooks a position of superiority by the endless blue and fantastic views.
Going down , we will surely starve . Time , then, for a meal in one of the picturesque taverns castletown. Evening will enjoy the drinking -tended coffee or a drink with good quality music in one of the atmospheric café- bar. The most powerful time Monemvasia is the east. It is worth to wake a little earlier to enjoy it.
