Agios Athanasios is located 30 km from the city of Edessa and within a walking distance from the ski resort of Kaimaktsalan Mount. The village is built in the late 16th century at the foot of the mountain.

Here, you will find the charming old village of Agios Athanasios, which is built at an altitude of 1200 m. It is declared as tenable by the Ministry of Culture, and, although once was abandoned, now is ready to delight its visitors. After the time of its decline, it began to flourish again and is now one of the best winter destinations, having, as its ally, the ski resort.

This is a traditional village with fabulous architecture, restored stone houses with tiled roofs, traditional hotels and restaurants, beautiful lake views and offers generously to visitors the ability for a calm and pleasant stay. Every year it becomes an attraction for many tourists and skiers.
