Capital of the island is the town of Thassos, known as Port . Located on the north side of the island , opposite of Kavala and connected by ferry to Keramoti.
The capital is surrounded by pine and olive trees , giving a dominant color in the island, which is nothing rather than green !
The port is well known for its stunning beaches and coasts, one of them is located in the opposite side of the old port and has been awarded with the Blue Flag. It is shallow with sand, ideal for families with small children.
Thasos Town is a major market center of the northern part of the island.

Starting from the amphitheater , a non- paved road leads to the citadel . It consists of three hills , the first of which was protected by walls . There was the sanctuary of the oracle and Apollo . In the second hill stood the sanctuary of Athena , of which today do not have much left to remind us . Finally , the third and highest hill stands the sanctuary of Pan , an artificial cave over which depicts the ancient god.
