The most famous beach of Skiathos and one of our country’s most internationally known. It is called "Chrisi Ammos” (Golden Sand) as its sand is very fine and shines under the summer sun. It has been nominated several times as being among the best beaches in the Mediterranean.

Out of the blue, crystal clear waters, this beach offers a unique opportunity for relaxation and enjoyment, as the forest of Koukounaries reaches down to the sea, with the Strofylia Lagoon (located therein), a rare wetland, which is now a protected area.
The beach of Koukounaries has been repeatedly awarded with the Blue Flag, a tribute for the beaches and marinas in Greece, which shows the quality of the service, the cleanliness of the sea and the level of organization of the beach.

In Koukounaries you will find a large number of hotels, hostels, and many taverns, restaurants, bars, ouzo bars, cafes.
It is situated on the southwestern tip of the island and is organized with sun beds, umbrellas, lifeguards and water sports companies.
From Koukounaries beach you will enjoy the sunset the area offers.
Access is very easy with your own car, taxi or municipal public transportation which is very dense.
