Easter in the island has its own color. In the Holy Week we will watch all the services at the churches and monasteries of the island.
At Holy Friday night we will watch one of three epitaphs of Aegina at the beach and at traditional narrow streets...
Altough the spiritual atmosphere we will live at the monasteries of the island. The resurrection in the isalnd is exceptional with many fireworks at the church of Eisodia Virgin Mary (Pangitsa) at the port and at Agios Nikolaos at the city.
Meanwhile for a different Resurrection is worth visiting the church of Agios Nektarios, Agia Aikaterini, Agios Christoforos and Chrysoleontissa.
An old custom, but not forgotten, relives in Easter Monday at Aegina. It is the «Dance of Lampri», that takes place in the morning, between 10-12, in Paleochora with many byzantine churches, in front of the church of Holy Cross, with music from traditional instruments and lots of dance..
Flavours, shopping and strolls with carriages...
At taverns and ouzo taverns of Aegina we will enjoy fresh fish, seafood and cooked food. We will try sun dried grilled octopus, monkfish with garlic sauce, "Katsoules" (local fish) in the pan, grilled shrimps etc. grilled prawns etc.
Surely, we will try and buy the famous peanuts of Aegina in many variations ( fresh, roasted, sweet preserves etc.)
Lastly, for romantic people a stroll with one horse carriage that move along the beach and characterize the area is imposed...

Access
Access to Aegina is possible by ferry from the port of Piraeus. Local transportation is very good so transportation by car is unnecessary. There are regular bus routes for the most areas of the island by the local bus.
Daily ferry departures from the port of Piraeus to Aegina, arrival after 1 hour and 15 minutes. Pireaus - Souvala trip duration is 1 hour.
From the port of Piraeus, in front of the church of Agios Spiridonas, dophins leave every day. Trip duration to Aegina is 35 minutes and to Agia Marina 1 hour.
