The village of Ano Gatzea is 18 km from Volos and is built on the mountainside. Kato Gatzea has a harbor that often hosts residents’ and visitors’ yachts.
In the area of Gatzea is also the famous monastery of Agia Triada, 1 km north of the village. The monastery has in its courtyard a large cross that is visible from the coastal road.
