Anilio of Pelion
Village - entrance to the area of the former municipality of Mouresi, for the visitors that are following the mountain road through Hania. Hidden behind the ridge of the mountain, Anilio, is probably so named "because during the winter there is almost no direct sunlight."
The visitor should visit the small picturesque square, where is the church of St. Athanasios, a great ecclesiastical monument, with one of the finest baroque wooden temples in Pelion. In the area also flourished quite famous monasteries, such as Virgin Mary, Saint Charalambos, the Exaltation of Holy Cross and Holy Trinity.
According to local tradition, at the lower part of the village, there was the ancient city of Achillio, which had been founded by the same Homeric Achilles and Chiron Centaur had his "home" in the cave that is at Mpanika beach.
