The island of Agios Achilios is on the municipality of Prespes is 60 km away from Florina, 65 km from Kastoria

The homonym settlement is build on the little Prespa in 853m. altitude and its residents reach 130 with main occupation, farming, fishing and tourism.

As in other settlements of Prespes, in Agios Achilios also a point are the fountains.

The area is also known for the homonym church of the island that is located on the end of 10th century. It is one of the greatest in Greece and for that reason gave its name to the island. Inside the temple we see the tomb of Agios Achilios, where the relic was tranfered from Larisa by Bulgarian czar Samouil.

Valuable monument is also the monastery of Panagia Porfyra (16th century). The faith of the residents of the area is confirmed by the numerous churches that are build on the island.

During the celebration of the temple, there are some events that take place in the island and offer an unique experience to the visitor.
