History
Kallithea is a refugee village of 3,500 acres. Its inhabitants settled in the area after the Asia Minor disaster of 1922 and the exchange of populations. They originated from Maltepe of Propontis and the wider area of Kerassounta of Pontus.
Before 1925, there was a monastery dependency as a manor, which was ruled by the Russian Monastery of Athos Mount.
After the settlement of refugees and the forced expropriation of the region, the settlement was named ''New Maltepe” and until 1945 it was administered by the community of Afytis. In 1946 becomes a separate Community named Kallithea (nice view), indicator of the beautiful position of the village.
